Filter elements The degree of filtering is specified in 2 ways: MICRON indicates the size of particles that can pass the filter. Hence a lower micron figure means a denser filter element. MESH indicates the number of threads/wires per inch in the element. Hence a higher mesh figure means a denser filter element.
